Jack & Art Discuss Willy's

This was the 2nd structure we'd ever manufactured, but right away we knew it had to be just a little bit unusual if we were to make a name for the new Bar Mills company.  We designed the kit so it could feature either of the two sides, each having a slightly different architectural style & serving a different purpose.  By adjusting the heights of the pillars below the dock area the strucutre could be themed for both land & waterfront use... hence the name "Waterfront Willy's/Trackside Jack's".

We've just introduced an updated model of the kit.  It now (in HO scale) features plastic windows, self-aligning roof rafter tails, and a couple of new dormers on the roof (to be used at your discretion, of course).

Some Efforts By Other Fine Modelers...

Marty Jones built this version of the kit used as a filling station.

Bob Beatty used the kit as a trackside warehouse facility

Terry Hansley's version of the model features outstanding detail & craftsmanship !

John Sullivan knows how to follow instructions, our own version of the model was dead-on with John's interpretation.

Tim Kaden's model features the "other side" (Trackside Jack's) of the building.  Well maintained structures do exist... just ask Tim !

We wish we knew who sent us this photo...  there's some "foolish" talk these days about what kits "are", or "are not" craftsman kits.  Figure it out... it's the craftsmans touch that can turn a simple clapboard wall into something special, not just the kit the clapboard wall came from.  Sheeeesh !

This little structure can be built for use on land... or on a waterfront scene !  It’s just in the way you approach it.  We’ve seen it turned into just about everything, including a service station.  If you’re up to some creative shenanigans you can have some fun with this one.  Recently re-engineered to include some of our more recent innovations this kit will find a place on almost any layout.  The "HO" version now features plastic windows, castings, signs, & the usual special stuff that’ll help to make your scene complete !.  Available at your local retailer.

Mel Wolf  used tall piers to elevate his model far above the ocean surface.

This "N" scale version of the kit was done so long ago we can't recall who sent in the photo.  Fine work.

The "original" Waterfront Willy's was scratchbuilt by Mike Tylick... the current kit model is actually a copy of it.
