We often find ourselves with space at a premium, & it's with that fact in mind that we decided to do the first of our "false-front" structures. A lot of though went into this one, from the diamond shingles, to the see through cupola and upper window shylights. the idea was to make it NOT look like a "box"... there's already a few of them out there by other manufacturers... we knew we could do better.  Using plastic windows helps speed up assembly on this kit, but the "trademark" Bar Mills custom laser-cut freight doors will never be surplanted with a run-of-the-mill plastic one. Sings are simple & in Black-&-White, the clapboard is our signature "aged" stuff that we have custom cut for us at "Northeastern Lumber", and the kit reflects a bit of our Bar Mills company heritage with the use of the rooftop billboard. The two photos shown above are of the "HO" version of the kit.  Where is "compression" more needed than in "O" scale ? Although this kit is manufactured in small runs we'll never let it go by the wayside... we just like it too much !  The "S" scale version of the kit is almost a dead-ringer for the "HO" version... IT SHOULD BE... why some kit manufacturers skimp on details on the larger versions of their HO structures is beyond us ! |

as a “false-front” background building, this kit offers a wealth of
detail . From it’s laser-cut roof-mounted billboard & cupola
to it’s large industrial type windows. We designed this one to be
placed towards the rear of a layout, and with half-thickness it’ll take
up less of your modeling real-estate than you might think. The
“HO” version is available through your local hobby shop, as with all
“S”&”O” kits they are available almost exclusively through Bar
Mills. Give us a call to place an order for the larger scale

No one is pretending that this is not a model in this photo... why should they ? This structure is a scratch-built copy of "Shipyard"... but in "G" scale !!!!!  Unfortunately we don't recall who sent in the photo of this model. With proper modeling of the "ground" surrounding it this would be a terrific diorama or contest entry. Great job ! (HO scale) |
