The "Idaho Hotel"

In an earlier day the "Idaho" housed not only boarders, but a small shop on the lower floor as well.  It could have been a legal office, or maybe a barber shop... we're not sure, but that double door on the right side of the photo housed some private entreprenuer.  Our model (above) is close to a dead ringer for the original (below).

This newly revised "HO" version of the kit features plastic windows, laser-kit rolled paper roofing, and a suprisingly easy to assembly front porch post assembly.
Some folks would say that this kind of structure wouldn't be found today... we strongly disagree.  We still see a similar building right here in the Bar Mills area, although the structure would be equally at home in West Virginia, or even on the west coast !

As is the usual Bar Mills approach our kits retain their character regardless of scale.  This kit is available in "N" thru "O" scales.  the photo above is of the O-scale version.

This extended "O" scale version was built by master modeler (& good egg) Tom Staton.  From the rooftop bar/lounge to the red carpet you know the "Idaho" (now re-named the "Fahie Arms".. thanks Tom) is doing well on Tom's On30 layout.  Tom added some Grandt Line Victorian-type porch brackets to give the hotel a "posh" look !

Clyde Queen of Idaho models in On30, an outstanding job of the hotel indeed !

Available in all 4 major scales this versatile structure is based on a prototype hotel, but can be converted and used as a combination convenience store/ filling station/ hotel, as well as several other themed concepts.  At home as much here in Maine as in W. Virginia or Colorado this building can really be used on just about any scene.  The HO & N scale versions feature plastic windows & doors & are available through your local retailer.
The larger "O" & "S" scale kits feature laser-cut versions of the same details and are available from "Bar Mills Direct".   This is the first structure ever produced by Bar Mills and is still a favorite !
