Jack & Art Discuss The Gravely Building

Don't ask how we came up with the name "The Gravely Building", we honestly don't know.  We just figured with apartments & an office on the upper floors and retailers on ground level it would make sense.  The pre-printed windows, colroful awnings, and unusual 2nd floor porch help to define this structure.  Equally at home in the Northeast or someplace on the west coast it can be used on just about any HO scale layout.

This model is available in HO, S & O scales.  Whenever we build multiple protoypes we try different color schems, it seems that a lot of modelers insist on painting their models the way we paint ours !... and it's simply not the way to approach creative modeling.
Avove is the "S" scale version of the kit... same attitude and general idea, but a different color scheme and a somewhat different look.

Now for something totally unique we know we can always count on you folks... in this case Bill Brown of the Syracuse, N.Y. area.  Bill is one of the finest modelers we know, his layout has been featured on the covers of two magazines, and his modular work travels with the "Central New York Modelers Of Distinction" (you may have seen them at the large train show in Amherst, Ma.)
The above photo shows the usual "Brown" creativity... like the Bar Mills version... DEFINITELY... but still with his own touch !

“The Gravely Building” was something we came up with based on a free-lanced model we did from one of our “1-Kit”s.  We’d like to tell you that there was a “grand plan” behind the thing... but it’s not the case.  We just wanted to experiment a little and came up with what we thought was a pretty “cool” structure.  The original used the porch balusters from the “Idaho Hotel”... so that became a part of this modeling effort as well.  It works for our New England sensibilities, but we kind-of picture it being used in just about any geographic location.  It could have been a “corner” building but liked the idea of placing it between “Booty Corner” & “Saulena’s Tavern”... as they’re both corners already.  Available in “HO” from your local hobby dealer, or from “Bar Mills Direct: in S & O scales.
